WELCOME TO THE SCHLÜCK AGENCY
The Schlück Agency, based in Hanover, was founded in 1973 by Eva and Thomas Schlück and is likely the largest literary agency in Germany. It represents German-language authors at home and abroad and handles German-language translation rights for international publishers and agencies. We represent a wide range of authors for our international clients. As of January 2011, we also have an office in Munich. For special projects outside our core business, we work with co-agents.
Our Team

Bastian Schlück
Having grown up on book boxes, Bastian Schlück joined the agency in 1998 after training as a banker and studying literature. In 2005, he was appointed managing director. He represents German authors as well as foreign publishers and agencies.

Franka Zastrow
After studying Roman Languages and English studies in Freiburg, Franka Zastrow went on to study book science in Munich. She joined the Schlück Agency in 2011, coming from Meller where she worked as an agent for 12 years. In 2022, she was appointed managing director. She manages the agency's branch office in the publishing city of Munich. Franka represents German authors as well as foreign publishers and agencies.

Sarah Knofius
After completing her studies (linguistics, computational linguistics, German studies), training (technical editing) and traineeship (Schlück Agency), Sarah Knofius now represents German authors as well as foreign clients. In addition she's one of the agency's contract managers. She is always enthusiastic about anything to do with the fantasy genre, but not so much about summer, sun and sunshine. As long as the sky is grey, there is enough coffee and the internet connection is stable, nobody has anything to fear from her.

Friederike Belder
As a child, Friederike Belder had a story read to her by Heinrich Hannover so often that she could retell it word for word. Later she did internships at publishing houses and studied history, English and German studies. Stories of any kind, whether in book form or as a film, are a passion of hers. She lived in Italy and Ireland for a long time and is now responsible for books for children and young people at the agency. She has a weakness for everything you can eat and likes to be and eat with people - especially when there is something to laugh about. Theoretically, she exercises, but after a day in the office and on the playground with her children, her sofa usually calls her to rest.

Kathrin Nehm
Kathrin Nehm did German studies and Sociology and completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller before deciding to enter the world of bookmaking even deeper. She joined the Agency in 2012 and represents German authors and foreign clients in children's and young adult’s fiction as well as in adult fiction. Her focus is on the genres Young Adult, New Adult and Fantasy. She likes to delve into the vast realm of her Netflix account and enjoys the way to work for audio book adventures; she visits the coffee machine more often than she probably should.

Hannah Reuß
After studying German and English, Hannah Reuß swapped the barren university rooms for the old building of the agency. In her free time, she likes to immerse herself in the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King or try her hand at interior design for her own four walls.

Tanja Heitmann
Tanja Heitmann studied political science and German studies. During her studies, she already worked at the agency, today she represents German authors.

Caroline Hartge
Caroline Hartge studied English, Spanish, and geography and has since worked in the publishing industry as a proofreader and editor. She has been with the agency since 1999 and has been responsible for part of the contracts since 2015.

Martin Meyer-Maluck
Martin Meyer-Maluck studied English and politics to become a teacher at grammar schools. He is an agency pioneer and has been supporting the team with his ideas since 1992. He heads the accounting/human resources departments and assists his colleagues expertly whenever they face computer problems. He loves to spend time with his family and is enthusiastic about gardening, motorcycling, and Hannover 96.

Kristina Erhart
After graduating from high school, Kristina Erhart first did a Voluntary Year of Social Service and later trained as management assistant in retail business. After a few years with an organic food shop, she switched to accounting at the Schlück agency, so now numbers are her daily bread and Excel her faithful companion. In her free time, she draws from the rich offer of podcasts, Netflix and books. Here, she likes everything except kitsch or horror. She also enjoys music, coffee and good food.

Silke Funke
Silke Funke comes from East Westphalia and studied German, English and history "a long time ago". Professionally, she has always remained true to the world of the written word, on the publishing side in the editorial department and in the rights & licenses department. At the Schlück agency, she has been dealing with the numbers in accounting since the beginning of 2024. In her private life, she is a family person, loves going for walks with her dog in the Teutoburg Forest and enjoys reading a good book in a beach chair by the North Sea.

Gisela Winke
After commercial training and self-employment, Gisela found her way into the publishing world. At the agency, she has dedicated herself to bookkeeping and loves to immerse herself in the world of figures and accounts. In her private life, she is a family person who loves to travel.

Isabell Leischner
Isabell Leischner worked as a trained bookseller for 13 years before joining the Schlück agency in 2025. In bookkeeping, she is now exploring a familiar industry from a new perspective with a fresh eye. At home, she can be found either in a cozy reading chair - engrossed in enriching novels or stories that whisk her away to distant galaxies - or in front of the Playstation. The main thing is that the story is right.

Thomas Schlück
Thomas Schlück, actually a bank clerk, started his own business as a translator and founded the agency with his wife Eva in 1973, in which can still be found wandering around from time to time.

Eva Schlück
Eva Schlück accompanied the agency since its foundation, starting with a desk in the hallway. For many years, she took care of the illustration department, which has since been discontinued. Until the summer of 2025, she continued to process author accounts on a daily basis before retiring for good after more than 50 years of service.
