About the Agency

Founded in 1973 by Eva and Thomas Schlück, the agency was initially strongly related to the SF scene. Via his occupation as translator Thomas Schlück had contact to many SF-authors and illustrators who subsequently wanted to be represented by the agency. Over time, the agency’s scope extended from SF to a wide range of themes in fiction and non fiction, and from mostly working for Angloamerican literary agencies, publishers and authors, the company has now branched out into also having, among others, German, Spanish and Scandinavian clients.

Growing business lead to the transformation of the agency into a company in January 1997. 1998 Joachim Jessen, former publisher and owner of Kabel Verlag, joined the team. Today, the Thomas Schlück GmbH is one of the largest full-service agencies in Germany; agents Thomas Schlück, Joachim Jessen, Bastian Schlück and Tanja Heitmann are supported by a strong backoffice. On 1.10.2007 Armin Gontermann, former managing editor of Ullstein Verlag, joins us as associated agent.

Eva Schlück is managing the Art agency representing a list of leading commercial illustrators for territories all over the world. The Art Department supplies excellent cover art in many categories for publishers to enrich the stories they present to their readers.
